The goods are stored on individual "shelves". The shelf consists of the lateral uprights between which the shelves are placed. Cross and diagonal braces provide more stability. Shelving racks are among the most used storage systems, which reach into the private household. They are suitable for the storage of small parts, mostly in packaging or also in open fronted storage bins or containers. The stored goods are clearly arranged and access is usually manual. For higher shelves, ladders or even equipment are used. The standard height is fixed at approx. two metres. A disadvantage of this type of storage is its high space requirement and the limited load capacity. The length of the individual shelves is variable with the common manufacturers.
