A radial press is a special type of pressing machine that transfers its pressing force evenly from the outside to the inside of a workpiece. This technology is particularly suitable for components with a round profile such as pipes, hoses or sleeves, as the pressure is applied radially and symmetrically. The term "radial" is derived from "radius", the half-diameter of a circle. This radial pressing process creates secure and precise connections that prove themselves in everyday industrial use.
How does a radial crimping machine work?
In a radial pressing machine, the pressing jaws move towards the workpiece simultaneously from all directions. This distributes the pressure evenly, preventing unwanted deformation and material damage. In contrast to other pressing systems that work selectively or axially, a radial press offers the advantage of an absolutely homogeneous pressing force.
Areas of application for radial presses
Radial presses are primarily used in hose technology, in the assembly of hydraulic lines and in mechanical engineering, for example for pressing fittings and couplings. These special pressing machines are also used in metalworking, mechanical engineering and the automotive industry when it comes to producing tight, durable connections. Due to their precise operation, they are often used in workshops where machines such as hydraulic hammers are also used.
Advantages of the radial press
- Even force distribution over the entire circumference
- High precision for round workpieces
- Gentle processing of sensitive surfaces
- Wide range of possible uses for industrial applications
Buying a press machine - what should you look out for?
If you want to buy a pressing machine, you should pay attention to factors such as pressing force, diameter range, control and material quality. With a radial pressing machine, the number and design of the pressing jaws are also decisive for the quality of the pressing process.
The radial press is the ideal solution for all applications where maximum precision and even pressure distribution are required for secure connections. It is hard to imagine hose and pipe processing in particular without this pressing machine. Contact TOPREGAL to find the right equipment for your warehouse, workshop or production environment.
