Work platform and safety cage attachment for a forklift truck

This practical aid provides comfort and safety for a maximum of two people carrying out temporary work at height when no safer access equipment is available. Simply place the 1.060 mm x 1.140 mm work basket with a guardrail height of 1.100 mm onto the forklift forks, secure it with the safety chain, and carry out repair or maintenance work safely. The supplied castors can be fitted when required. Please check the forklift's load capacity. The work platform from SolidHub may only be used with Forklifts whose load capacity is at least 1.500 kg. The following safety instructions must also be observed when working with this forklift accessory: 

• You must have been instructed in operating the work basket and have a written order from the commissioning party.
• Applicable national and local safety regulations concerning attachments for Forklifts must always be observed. The source refers in particular to UVV 48 and UVV 1; the operator is responsible for checking the requirements in the country of use before operation.
• When work is being carried out on the work basket, the operator must appoint a supervising person.

Operating regulations

• The work basket may only be entered or exited via the designated access point.
• The permitted maximum weight of 360 kg must not be exceeded.
• There must be no obstacles in the work basket's lifting area.
• Work within 3 metres of overhead electrical lines or at a lifting height exceeding a maximum of 5 metres is prohibited.
• People on the work basket must work in a way that does not endanger themselves or others.
• Climbing onto the protective structure or attaching ladders and scaffolding is prohibited.
• Before starting work with the work basket under a raised load, check that the lifting accessory is correctly attached (observe the permitted working load of the lifting equipment).
• Loads may only be stored on the floor and inside the basket.
• Extending the platform or attaching overhanging loads is not permitted.
• Communication with the forklift driver must be ensured at all times.

Additional note on use with the forklift

Secure the work basket against slipping with the safety chain. The chain must be attached behind the forks.

• People must not be transported with the work basket.
• Operating shelving with the work basket is prohibited.
• When the work basket is raised, the forklift driver must not leave the driver's seat.
• The work basket may only be used with Forklifts whose load capacity is at least 1.500 kg.
• Before attaching the work basket, ensure that the forklift has a fork spacing of 525 mm and a fork length of at least 800 mm.

Note:

Please note that using the attachment shifts the load centre of your forklift. For more information, refer to the heavy-load diagram and the load centre of your forklift truck.
The attachment is suitable for forklift trucks, not high-lift pallet trucks. Before purchasing, please check whether the attachment is compatible with your forklift truck (fork-tine cross-section up to max. 155 mm x 70 mm).

Please find out about the national regulations applicable in the country of use before commissioning. The person commissioning the equipment is responsible for commissioning it and for ensuring that suitable personnel are available for its use.
