Fully electric - the integration of electromobility into everyday corporate life

In retail and wholesale warehouses, huge quantities of goods are moved from A to B every day. To make this possible, companies sometimes rely on a whole arsenal of transport and industrial trucks. These are often still powered by combustion engines. "Exhaust fumes and loud machines create an unpleasant and strenuous working atmosphere," reports Jürgen Effner, Managing Director of TOPREGAL GmbH, and emphasizes: "E-mobility is therefore also the future in companies." He presents an inexpensive and efficient fleet of vehicles that every company can use to make its day-to-day work more sustainable and explains the benefits of electric drive systems in terms of the working environment and optimization of work processes.

Improving the working environment

In spacious halls with large storage areas and corresponding distances, industrial trucks ensure that goods are transported quickly. Be it the delivery of goods or storage and retrieval: this is hardly possible without efficient machines. "Motorized transport vehicles such as forklift trucks and pallet trucks are part of the basic equipment and are often in constant use," reports Effner. "E-vehicles not only improve the ambient air, but also create a quiet working environment thanks to their silent movement." Some transport machines with fossil drive technologies cannot be operated indoors permanently due to their noise or exhaust emissions. This makes them very ineffective and inflexible. "Our Li-ion electric forklift trucks are emission-free and are therefore suitable for transporting goods both outdoors and in warehouses," explains Effner. "Thanks to the 80 V / 120 Ah Li-Ion battery, our smallest forklift truck, the GSE15/5, can be charged in just 1.3 hours and is ready for use for up to five hours, during which it can store goods continuously up to a lifting height of 4,800 mm." Thanks to the small turning radius, the forklift truck is suitable for transporting goods from the goods delivery outside to the designated storage location in the warehouse without intermediate storage. A forklift license and annual training are required for use.

Optimization of work processes

As long distances sometimes have to be covered in large halls, machines that can save employees walking distances in addition to transporting goods are particularly effective. "The HEF1200/4 electric pallet stacker with driver's platform makes it possible to drive along and control it ergonomically from a standing position, especially over long distances," explains Effner. "It supports the transportation, order picking and stacking of loads up to 1,200 kg and, with a lifting height of 90-4,000 mm, is also ideal for high halls." An electromechanical, regenerative brake ensures easy and safe transportation of goods and also extends the battery life. For small to medium-sized companies, converting to e-mobility can be problematic due to the financial circumstances, although the powerful machines can save money in the long term. "Our HWE20 electric pallet truck performs all the lifting work electrically. This eliminates the need for manual pumping, which saves both time and energy," says Effner. "It is an affordable entry-level model for smaller businesses. Nevertheless, with a load capacity of up to 2,000 kg, it can handle many transport tasks and its fork length of 1,150 mm makes it suitable for all standard pallet sizes." A very small turning radius makes the pallet truck ideal for transport orders or goods deliveries to customers. Electric pallet trucks do not require a high-voltage socket and can be operated by any employee after training. Nevertheless, the portfolio also includes a forklift truck model, the GSE25/5, which can be charged via the domestic power supply at 230 V and thus offers smaller companies in particular without access to high voltage current the option of using a forklift truck in the warehouse. In contrast to combustion engines, which at best have an efficiency of up to 35 - 45 %, electric motors have an efficiency of over 90 % and therefore consume less energy for the same amount of work. Due to the low number of components, they require less maintenance and have reduced maintenance costs because there is no need for fuel storage. The inexpensive yet efficient SolidHub brand devices optimize work processes, reduce the workload of employees and at the same time help to make the company more climate-neutral," concludes Effner.
