The contents of the "Berufsgenossenschaftliche Regeln für Sicherheit und Gesundheit bei der Arbeit" (BG rules) such as BGR 234 are a central component of the regulations. They concern "Storage facilities and equipment" and are today part of DGUV regulation 108-007, published by the German Social Accident Insurance (Deutsche Gesetzliche Unfallversicherung e.V.). The inspection of storage facilities and equipment is regulated in DIN EN 15635 with the title "Stationary steel racking systems - Use and maintenance of storage facilities".

Rules of the trade association (BG rules), serve for safety and health at work. These rules (occupational health and safety, accident regulations from BGR-234) are intended to support the employer in the implementation of his obligations to avoid accidents at work, occupational diseases or health hazards.
